A while ago I was doing important candy research and came across a media kit with information about the upcoming product release of caramel m&ms. They called it m&ms’ first entry into the “soft and chewy” category and explained that caramel was at its height currently due to a combination of innovation and nostalgia. It was weird to read about candy in strictly marketing terms.

Also, these aren’t caramel m&ms. These are coffee nut m&ms which I was optimistic about but are not that good.
